|Eltham College offers many other sports aside from those that are core and timetabled. Teams and individuals often compete in local and national competitions
Pupils from Year 7 to Upper Sixth are welcome to join in practice after school for various triangular meets and to compete in the Greenwich Schools and London Schools Championships. The school has a 300m grass track as well as copious amounts of space for field events.
Fencing is open to all Eltham College pupils from Year 3 through to Upper Sixth. Fencers train on Sundays in the Eric Liddell Sports Centre sports hall and have one after-school session per week plus there is additional training during school holidays.
There are local, county, national and international competitions throughout the year for all Fencing diciplines.
Fencing has seen many successes in recent years in the Kent Championships, South East England Championships, Leon Paul Junior Series, Elite Epee Series, Premier Foil Series, England Championships, British Championships, Public School Championships, British Team Championships.
Many of the pupils have also achieved regional and national representative honours. Currently four fencers have been selected to represent England and/or Great Britain in international competitions abroad. Our fencers regularly represent SE England at the British Championships, and form the Bromley team at the London Youth Games.
Tours have visited France, Germany and the Netherlands.
Open to all pupils, the Golf team comprises players with the lowest handicaps.
The team meets at Sundridge Park Golf Club for home matches and competes in the ISGA Knockout Matchplay Competition and the HMC Knockout Foursomes Competition.
The team also enters the ISGA Schools Cup and the Kent Schools’ Team Competition as well as playing a number of friendly matches both at home and away during the year.
Running Club and Cross Country
Runners from Year 7 through to Upper Sixth meet on Wednesday lunchtimes in the school grounds although some runs take place outside of the gates, around the local area. Individuals and teams compete in Cross-Country and other competitions throughout the year including the Assembly League.
Open to a limited number of pupils from Year 3 to Upper Sixth, Ski Club trains regularly at Bromley Ski and Snowboard Centre coached by GB skier, Emily Evans.
The team competes in the Kent Schools Ski Championship and the British Schools’ Dry Slope Championships, as well as the Inter School Ski Challenge in Les Houches, France.
Current pupils have been selected to represent their age group in the England Schools National Squads.
Occasional trips are also organised to Hemel Hempstead Snow Centre.
Lunchtime Swim Squad and Friday Swim School are open to pupils from Year 7 through to Upper Sixth. Training takes place in the 6 lane 25m pool in Eric Liddell Sports Centre. The teams compete in various triangular meets and galas with other local schools' swimming clubs.
Years 7 through to Upper Sixth compete in various Water Polo fixtures throughout the year at U12, U14, U15, U16 and U19 level with the majority of matches played in the Spring Term. Several age groups compete in the London League at U14, U15 and U19 level and we currently have one player selected for the London U19s squad.
Making use of the 6 lane 25m pool housed in Eric Liddell Sports Centre, Year 10 to Upper Sixth train on Wednesday evenings while Years 7 to 9 meet on Thursday evenings.
The U14, U15 and U16 teams toured to Athens in summer 2015.
