On Saturday (24 June) and Sunday (25 June), the ski team ventured to Welwyn Garden City for the London Schools Ski Race our final interschool ski race of the year.

On the Saturday we had our 4 primary boys at the slope showing their skills they have been perfecting at training. The Primary team had some fantastic runs and a great day and were really proud of their efforts.

On the Sunday, 12 of our senior team attended the competition and had an absolutely brilliant day of results, coming away with many medals and trophies. All the team competed excellently in the individual runs and really contributed to their overall team’s success.

Our year 7 and 8 male team comprising of George (Year 7), Harry (Year 7), Isaac (Year 7) and Arthur (Year 8) took home 3rd place in their age group, a great result for the team with all four managing a faster second run. Continuing with the strong results Alex (Year 8), Freddie (Year 10), Boden (Year 10) and Adam (Year 11) took home 2nd place in the year 9 to 11 male category, a great effort for the team with 2 members placing on the podium for their great times. Finishing off the strong results was our year 7 and 8 mixed team, Stanley (Year 7), Gabriel (Year 7), Lily (Year 8) and Mert (Year 8), an excellent result for the team, well done to our new ski racers in this team who stayed on course and performed fantastically.

The results just kept coming with Boden (Year 10) taking home 1st in the male year 9 to 11 individual category and Adam finishing 3rd in the same category. Boden had an impressive time of 10.52 seconds only 0.03 seconds behind the fastest racer of the day overall. Adam was closely behind with a fastest time of 10.93 seconds.

The team also competed in the Dual Slalom event a 4-person skiing relay. Our A team (Boden, Adam, Freddie, Harry) secured 4th place in this event and our B team (Alex, George, Lily, Isaac) took home another medal finishing in 2nd place. We also had 4 of our racers compete in the mixed school dual slalom, an event where teams consist of 4 racers from different schools, Arthur’s mixed school team finished in 3rd, Mert’s team finished in 2nd and George’s team finished in 1st, a trifecta of Eltham skiers on the podium.

The most exciting results of the day were the overall teams results which is the schools total results combined to find a winner. We took home gold for the overall male teams competing against schools from London, Essex and Surrey our male teams also took home gold in the overall male London teams beating out all male teams in the London area. Next up our mixed team was once again triumphant and won gold in the overall mixed London teams again beating out all mixed teams in the London area, they also secured joint 1st in the overall mixed teams tying with New Hall.

An astounding weekend of brilliant results for the team, well done to all racers especially on such an extremely hot weekend and a big thank you to all the families supporting our racers.

Let’s go team Eltham!
