Examination Results

The Academic success of the pupils is underpinned by the promotion of a positive work ethic, combined with high expectations.

At Eltham College, we aim to work towards the top grades at GCSE, and the highest A level results in the Sixth Form; this enables our pupils to read the degree courses they want, at the universities they wish to attend.

GCSE

Eltham College students achieved a brilliant set of results this year and have beaten last year’s record with 44 per cent of all results achieving the top A* grade, an impressive increase of five per cent from the preceding year. Over eight out of every ten grades was graded at either an A* or A.

25 per cent of all students achieved eight A* grades or better which is the starting point of an Oxbridge candidate.

A level

In recent years, such excellent A level examination results have enabled around 80% of our students to be successful in obtaining places at Oxford, Cambridge or other Russell Group universities, starting the courses they have chosen to study.

Students in 2016 collectively achieved an improved 85.8 per cent A*-B which was crucial for those chasing places at elite universities. 60 per cent achieved A* to A grades and bucked the national trend to excel in French and crucial STEM subjects. Over a third of the year group achieved three straight A grades or higher with many obtaining four A* grades.

Destinations of Leavers

In recent years, the most popular subjects that our students went on to read included Economics, Medicine, Geography and History and the universities that most students went to were Bristol, Cambridge, Durham, Exeter, Nottingham, Oxford and Warwick.
