|Most classes are taken for a core curriculum subject by the form tutor, whilst other subjects may use the specialist strengths of individual teachers. Children are 'setted' for Maths in Years 3, 4, 5 and 6.
The use of specialist teachers increases as children approach transfer at 11+. Whilst there are pastoral coordinators of Year 3/4 and Year 5/6 Levels, the form tutor remains central to the pastoral system of the Junior School.
Our belief is that in order for children to realise their full potential, they must be extended intellectually whilst remaining confident within our caring and motivating environment.
The courses taught embrace the principles of the National Curriculum. Our programmes of study incorporate the best of modern and traditional methods, with an emphasis on the active involvement of each child in his learning.

Ginn 'Abacus' Maths is the major resource of our Mathematics scheme, but is much supplemented by teacher worksheets and other material. There are programmed regular assessments to gauge attainment. Mental skills are taught and are highly valued as an important foundation for written work.
Great emphasis is placed on boys' reading skills. Reading is extended by a wide variety of class and library reading material, with targets set for each group level. Formal language work - spelling, grammar, punctuation, creative writing and handwriting - is taught regularly.
The Junior School curriculum embraces Geography, History, Religious Education, Mandarin (why choose Mandarin?), French, Music, Art, PSHE, Design Technology, Information Communication Technology, Physical Education, Swimming and Games. Often these subjects are developed when cross-curricular links are explored.
Our curriculum has a solid foundation and is delivered in a stimulating and enthusiastic manner. All form rooms are equipped with interactive whiteboards, as are the Science, Art and Music rooms.
A colourful environment is provided by the display of pupils' work which focuses on the importance of presentation and the value of an individual's efforts.
