Senior School Uniform

It is a rule of the school that uniform in accordance with current regulations must be worn in school, on journeys to and from school, on all school occasions, and when the school is being represented at games fixtures either home or away.

All clothing must be clearly and securely marked with the owner’s name. In any dispute over clothing regulations, the Headmaster’s judgment is final.

The regulation articles are to be obtained from John Lewis online only.

Years 7 to 11:

Mid-grey trousers (not light-grey or charcoal or near-black).

School blazer with sewn-in badge as supplied by John Lewis.

Pullover - plain grey V neck or school regulation.

Socks - plain grey, navy blue or black (not white or pale, no patterns).

Shirt - white (short sleeves if desired) NB no T shirts with loud or visible motifs or lettering to be worn beneath the regulation shirts.

Shoes - plain black leather (no canvas, no suede, no cord, no trainers, no metal attachments, no industrial style, no boots). Black laces only. Must be kept clean.

Tie - House tie, or tie specifically authorised (by the Headmaster) and awarded for school sporting or cultural activities. 

Art apron (optional).

White woodwork apron (optional).

White laboratory coat (not nylon). This can also be used for Design/Technology and Art. This is compulsory, and pupils will not be allowed to take part in Science practicals without one. 

School Bag – School bags should be navy or black without large, colourful logos.

Badges (metal lapel badges and other insignia) - only prefects’ or other specifically authorised (by the Headmaster) badges are allowed.

Jewellery - no jewellery of any sort including studs, sleepers and finger rings.

Hair should not be dyed, highlighted or unnaturally coloured, and should be tidy and not unacceptably long (cut above the collar) or excessively short.

Sports Kits:

Sports Kits are available from Akuma.

Years 7 to 10:

PE Kit

White PE shirt, white shorts, white socks, trainers, school swimming trunks and towel.

Michaelmas Term Games Kit - Rugby

School/House games shirt, blue rugby shorts, games socks, rugby boots (grass), school tracksuit bottoms and school drill top.

Lent Term Games Kit - Hockey

School/House games shirt, white PE shorts, hooped socks, trainers or Hockey AstroTurf boots.

Summer Term Games Kit - Cricket

White Cricket/PE shirt, Cricket whites, Cricket jumper, trainers or Cricket spikes.
Athletics vest (optional - if selected).

Year 11:

Compulsory items for those selected to represent school teams:

Rugby: Match shirt (supplied at the start of the season), Blue Elite Rugby shorts and blue and gold Rugby socks.

Hockey: Match shirt, white Hockey shorts and white and gold Hockey socks.

Cricket: Match shirt, Cricket whites

Optional extra kit:

Technical tee, sleeveless technical tee, drill training top, tracksuit bottoms, House shirt, hooded top, Cricket jumper – either sleeveless or long sleeved, Cricket cap, blue base layers – top, shorts and leggings (Rugby/Hockey), white base layer top (Cricket), House Athletics vest, school Athletics/Cross-Country vest, training/gym vest, beefy tee, kit bag, rucksack, boot bag and beanie hat.

Outdoor Wear:

Outdoor wear must be coloured plain dark navy blue or grey. Raincoats, overcoats, trench and duffle coats, anoraks and cagoules are permitted, providing they are clean and in good order. These must have no plastic or leather patches, no tabs or brass buttons, and the lining must be unobtrusive.  A school coat is also obtainable from John Lewis.

Cyclists may wear on their way to school suitable protective clothing over their uniform, including fluorescent bands, but must, of course, wear their uniform into school buildings.

Scarves must be plain navy or black. 

Dark coloured gloves.  

Coats, gloves and scarves are for outdoor wear only.

Music Concerts and Performances

Please note that the Dress Code for the majority of Eltham College (Senior School) concerts is Dinner Jackets (or very dark/black suits) with black bow tie and white shirt for boys and all black (long dresses) for girls.  If your child is asked to perform, please ensure that they have the appropriate concert dress.

Second-Hand Clothing

The Parent-Teacher Association organise a second-hand clothing sale on the first Thursday of every month throughout the academic year where school uniform (including dinner jackets) may be bought and sold.
