On Saturday 19 February five Eltham College students – Alex, Ben, Samuel, Ketan and Nathan competed in the third annual Cambridge Chemistry Race at Cambridge University. Lower Sixth student Nathan wrote about their experience:
“The competition was incredibly fun, despite its difficulty, trying to get through as many increasingly complicated chemistry questions as we could within the two-hour timeframe. In the end we came second place out of 51 teams from across the country, each of us winning an amazing beaker mug and a game or textbook of our choice, and two trophies for the team.
It was not all great though, as Storm Eunice had brought down the train lines, meaning we could not get to Cambridge as planned. However, Mr and Mrs McInerny as well as Mr McMillan saved the day by agreeing to drive us up there at incredibly short notice, so a huge thank you to those parents, as well as to Dr Hill for accompanying us for the entire day.”
