All candidates must register with the College prior to taking their assessment and registration can be made at any time before the relevant deadline.

Entry at 7+ is by assessment. All candidates are assessed in English, which includes an element of verbal reasoning, Mathematics and reading. A reference from the candidate’s current school is also requested.

Prior to the assessment all registered candidates are invited to an activity morning where they can take part in a range of activities including Art, Music, IT and Games, designed to familiarise them with the Junior School and meet the staff and boys whom they might encounter on their assessment visit. 16+ Entry

The minimum standard for entry to the Sixth Form is six A grades at GCSE although, with the competition for places, the standard is likely to be considerably higher. There are also specific GCSE requirements to study A level courses.

All external candidates for the Sixth Form take an entrance examination, sitting papers in two subjects of their choice and a computer adaptive verbal and non-verbal reasoning assessment. After the written examination, candidates for whom a place is being considered will be invited to interview. A reference from the candidate’s current school is also requested.

All candidates are automatically considered for an Academic Scholarship dependent on performance in the entrance examinations, but there are further assessments for those candidates who pass the academic threshold and who wish to be considered for a Music, Sport, Drama or Art Scholarship.

Places are allocated shortly after the examination process. Once candidates have accepted an offer from us, they will be invited to an Options Evening where they can meet Heads of Department for advice on selecting subjects to study at A level.
