What to Wear

Eltham College uniform requirements from 2020.

Both our day uniform and sports kit enable our pupils to select from options where necessary to allow greater choice, based on personal preference and comfort.

Stevenson’s offer a labelling service – where all uniform can be labelled at source. We highly recommend this option.

Senior School Uniform
Eltham College blazer with sewn in school badge, as supplied by Stevensons.
Mid grey trousers or mid grey pleated skirt with blue button. Skirt length should be closer to the knee than the hip.
Shorts – mid-grey shorts with knee high Eltham College socks (grey with yellow stripes)
Grey V neck jumper with gold/white stripes in V, as supplied by Stevensons.
White shirt or white blouse with revered collar. Long or short sleeved. No dark coloured t-shirts, motifs or underwear should be visible.
Plain dark socks (black or grey) with trousers or black or white knee high or ankle socks with skirt. No trainer socks to be worn.
Shoes must be plain black leather. No suede or canvas shoes. No trainers with sporting motifs are to be worn. No slip on ballet style shoes. No high heels. No industrial style shoes, no boots. Black laces only. Shoes must be kept clean.
House tie should be worn with a collared shirt. A house pin should be worn with a revered collar blouse.
Navy Eltham College Design Technology apron, as supplied by Stevensons, for all students in Year 7 to 9. From Year 10 a Navy DT lab coat may be worn.
The Science Department will supply lab coats.
School bags should be navy or black without large, colourful logos. Optional bags with the Eltham College crest are available from Stevensons.
Badges (metal lapel badges and other insignia) – only prefects’ or other specifically authorised (by the Headmaster) badges are allowed.
No jewellery to be worn. If ears are pierced, one small stud can be worn in each ear. There is to be no variation on this.
Hair should not be dyed an unnatural colour.
Hair should be kept tidy and not excessively long or short.
Must be clean shaven
No nail varnish or fake nails should be worn.
Make up, if worn, should be discreet and natural.
No facial piercings

Boys Girls
Required items – all required items should be purchased at the start of the academic year.
Michaelmas Term Striped top, blue shorts, striped socks and full tracksuit (Rugby). White polo top, blue skort, striped socks, leggings and tracksuit top (Hockey).
Lent Term Striped top, blue shorts, striped socks and full tracksuit (Hockey). White polo top, blue skort, white socks, leggings and tracksuit top (Netball).
Summer Term White cricket shirt, blue shorts and white socks (Athletics/Cricket and PE). White polo top, blue skort and white socks (Athletics/Cricket and PE).
All Terms Trainers, navy “jammer” swimming shorts, goggles towel, shin pads and gumshield. Trainers, navy swimming costume, goggles, towel, shin pads and gumshield.
Additional items (not compulsory)
All terms Eltham College contact top and midlayer, and House coloured tech tees. Stevensons also hold stock of useful sports accessory items including baselayers (white long-sleeved tees, navy baselayer shorts and/or leggings), kit bags and hats.
Specialist equipment (if your child is selected for a team) – please check if your child requires these items before purchasing.

Lent Term Hockey – astro shoes and Hockey stick. N/A
Summer Term Cricket – spiked shoes, trousers, bat, pads, gloves, box and helmet. Cricket – spiked shoes, trousers, bat, pads, gloves and helmet.

If your child is selected to represent the College in a Senior team the coach will place kit orders directly with Stevensons on the team’s behalf. The costs of these items will be added to your termly bill if required. In such circumstances parents will be notified in advance.

NB: During the winter months some training and most matches are held outside. It can get extremely cold and it may be necessary to wear layers.

Senior School Outdoor Wear
Outdoor wear must be coloured plain dark navy blue or grey. Raincoats, overcoats, trench and duffle coats, anoraks and cagoules are permitted, providing they are clean and in good order. These must have no plastic or leather patches, no tabs or brass buttons, and the lining must be unobtrusive. A school coat is also obtainable from Stevensons.
Cyclists on their way to school may wear suitable protective clothing over their uniform, including fluorescent bands, but must, of course, wear their uniform into school buildings.
Scarves must be plain navy or black.
Dark coloured gloves.
Coats, gloves and scarves are for outdoor wear only.
Music Concerts and Performances

Please note that the dress code for the majority of Eltham College (Senior School) concerts is either: white shirt, black trousers, black shoes with plain black bow tie.  Or black top with sleeves and black trousers/long black skirt, knee-length or longer.

If your child is asked to perform, please ensure that they have the appropriate concert dress.

Second-Hand Clothing

The school second-hand uniform sale will operate twice per term and parents will be notified via email of all items in stock.
