Black British History is being made right now.

We were privileged to be joined by actor and childhood friend of Mr Hammond Ekow Quartey, at the end to the first week of Black History Month 2022.

He reflected on his journey from his first experiences of acting to his latest role as Pedro in Becoming Elizabeth. He shared nothing short of an honest and inspiring recount of the uncertain realm of acting, the challenges living your dream presents, and the inherent instability of the industry. Amidst the charm and playful storytelling his words resonated with pupils and staff alike and left all incredibly touched and honoured to receive.

This Black History Month at Eltham College has been a re-focus on Black British History and Black British stories because Black British History is being made right now. Today, especially, we were reminded that making history is not easy.
