On a year where we have had a record number of pupils qualifying for County Championships, we have done incredibly well. Eltham College had 14 different pupils competing this year representing the following clubs: Bromley, Beckenham and Greenwich Royals.
Across the 17 different events all the 200m+ events were all Heat Declared Winners whilst all of the 50m and 100m races had heats and finals. We had an amazing 26 finals reached across just those 8 races. A special mention to all those that made a final; Hayden, Leo, Isabelle, Chloe, Jessica, Stefan, Arkin and Alex.
It has been great to see so many Eltham College pupils performing at County level and long may this continue. Stand out performers at this Year’s Kent County Championships has been Isabelle and Hayden .
Isabelle picked up 3 Golds, 1 Silver and 3 Bronze medals highlight being the 100m Butterfly raced where she got her hands to the wall to take victory by 0.3seconds. Isabelle also won gold in the 50m Backstroke and 100m Backstroke in a very convincing manner.
Hayden decided to go one better than last year and cleaned up with 17 out of a possible 17 Golds. Along with those medals he achieved 11 new Event Best Performance Records and is currently ranked #1 in Great Britain for 15 out of the 17 events a truly remarkable achievement. A special highlight was possibly Hayden’s 200m Backstroke after a very long day he stormed the field and won by a comfortable margin.
