Eltham College run an annual trip during October half term to Dodoma in Tanzania to spend time at Kisasa Secondary School.
Over the years we have helped to fund a number of projects including:
- the building of a new classroom block
- the development of the school library
- the purchasing of desks for the Primary School
- the purchasing of books and scientific resources for the school
During their time at the school Eltham students support the teaching staff by delivering lessons on a range of topics, including Maths, English and PE. In addition to this they are also involved in general maintenance around the school, watering plants during the dry season and spend time getting know the students of the school and their culture and customs.
The Secondary School is now considered to be a school of choice by parents in the area because of the improved facilities and resources that are not available at other schools. Mrs Galloway, an ex Eltham College Physics teacher, spent two years teaching at Kisasa School. She contributed much to the improvement of the physical resources there and towards the ethos of the school, including the use of commendations to reward students and improve behaviour.
