Fiddler on the Roof is set in pre-revolutionary Russia where a Jewish peasant contends with marrying off three of his daughters while growing anti-Semitic sentiment threatens his village. It was the most successful musical of its time, running for over 3,000 performances on Broadway. It is also the source of several famous and now-standard songs, such as “Sunrise, Sunset”, “Tradition”, “If I Were a Rich Man” and “Matchmaker, Matchmaker,”
