In 2017 Eltham College will be celebrating its 175th anniversary. To mark the 175 years since the founding of the school, we thought it would be a fitting to plant 175 new trees to enhance the grounds for present and future generations. This will include a new lime avenue from the London Marathon Pavilion to the edge of College Meadow, as well as planting other native trees such as beech and oak around the grounds and along the front of school. Trees planted along the path to the Junior School will complement the new benches which the Parents’ Association have kindly agreed to donate. Junior School students should also enjoy the shade of additional trees near their playground and, for the Senior School, new trees will be added to the re-landscaped quad and Sixth Form Garden.

We all benefit from our wonderful site but the present generation and future generations of Elthamians will need your help to preserve and enhance this beautiful environment. I am therefore inviting families to ‘sponsor’ a tree for a donation of £175 and to support a living piece of Eltham College history. Donors are welcome to sponsor a tree as a family or even a number of trees – perhaps choosing to name them after individual family members who have attended Eltham College. Sponsors’ names will be recorded on a commemorative plaque to be placed on one of the 175 trees.

The planting of the trees will take place from Spring 2018 with the 175th tree to be planted in the Old Quad in Autumn 2018, at the completion of the landscaping works for the new Turberville Building.
