Golf success for Year 9 student

Charlie Reynolds has been refining his golf skills over the past year with a number of important competitions and tournaments. Despite narrowly missing out on selection for the SE England regional squad, the coaches saw potential in Charlie and he was invited to a few training sessions with them. Charlie displayed his talent and passion and has ended up attending all the sessions this year which puts him in good stead to make the squad next year.

Charlie has played in the Midland Under 16 Open Championship at Easter. Many of the England regional squads went to the competition which was played in horrific conditions. As one of the younger and higher handicap players, Charlie did brilliantly to make the cut (of half the field) after 36 holes. He also has played in an Under 18 Kent competition (Race to St George’s South Kent qualifier) and came joint second in the gross and joint third in the net competition. Charlie will be busy during the Summer break as he is entered into a number of big competitions including the England and Scottish Under 14 tournaments.

All of Charlie’s hard work has paid off and was asked to be the Under 14 Kent golf squad Captain. The team played their first match of the season last week against Essex and Sussex. The team beat both counties convincingly.
