On Wednesday 4 December, eight students travelled to Bullers Wood School for the final netball fixture of the term, whilst the remainder of the squad stayed at basecamp.
It was a challenging match against Bullers, as it was the first time the team had played inside. It is safe to say that the floor was slippery, and Bullers had the home advantage. It was a close start, with the first quarter ending in a 5-2 lead to the opposition. Having mastered the technique of landing gracefully and well-balanced, the second quarter was a draw, bringing the overall score to 8-5. Things were looking up and, once again, the girls showed their fighting spirit. Alas, a few stolen turnovers meant that Bullers increased the scoring line during the third quarter to 6-15. The game wasn’t over yet, and Bullers did not know what was about to hit them. The team were on fire in the final quarter, making excellent passes, shooting some fantastic goals and executing numerous turnovers. Eltham won the final quarter 4-1. Unfortunately, the game was cut short, losing a total of three minutes, so who knows how many more goals Eltham could have scored in the final minutes of the game. The final score was a 10-16 loss. Player of the match was awarded to Jaimie for her fiery movement around the court.
Well done to all the girls on an excellent first term of netball. The squad have lots of exciting events to look forward to next term we hope that 2020 brings the first win for the A team.
