Rugby Report – 10 September 2018

1ST XV – MR HOWARD

The 1st XV started the season with an emphatic win over The Judd 42 – 16 on Saturday. The score line doesn’t represent how tough the game was, at half time the score was 16-16 with Eltham’s defence holding strong. In the second half our attack play was outstanding and we fully deserved the large win.

Under 16B – MR JERVIS

The Under 16B team had a great result against the only team to beat them last year. The first half saw Eltham play some barnstorming rugby as they scored five tries with some outstanding offloading and finishing throughout. The high standards could not be matched in the second half as Judd came back strongly but could only manage to score two tries with some resolute defence. Final score EC 27 – Judd 12.

Under 15A – MR DAVIES

The Under 15A team put in a spirited performance playing some enterprising rugby, but fell just short against The Judd School by 21-24. The first half finished even at seven points each. Our score coming from Sam Rushton after an excellent run from his own half. Sam followed this up with a second try after half time, but Judd crossed our line twice from close range. A third try resulted from a well worked line out move and finished by Lawrence Coleman. All three tries were converted by Josh Hutchings.

Under 14B – MR JERVIS

The Under 14Bs started with a win. First half tries from Matthew Massey, Oliver Egan and Miles Turnell saw them initially leading 15-0. A series of call-ups from the A team meant a trickier second half but a 50m run from Jacob Jones secured a well-deserved 20-15 win.

Under 13A – MR THOROGOOD

The Under 13A got off to a tough start against a really good Judd side. Despite the score, Eltham took plenty away from the match and have some excellent reference points to put into practice this week.
