Music truly is at the centre of our School: walking around you might hear one of our choirs singing in the school’s Chapel, a jazz ensemble rehearsing for a performance in our purpose-built Music School, or see a pupil-run band recording a track in our Recording Studio.
Whether it is 8.00am or 5.00pm you are bound to hear music-making at Eltham College, and with over thirty musical ensembles, students of all ages and abilities are able to make the most of the opportunities available. Many Elthamians also perform with local and national orchestras and choirs, and a large number attend Music Conservatoire Saturday schools.
Individual and Vocal Lessons
Over thirty visiting music teachers (VMTs) come to Eltham College each week to give individual instrumental/vocal lessons. Learn more about our VMTs.
Any student who wishes to take individual lessons as part of the school day is able to: over 60% of Elthamians learn at least one instrument. Lessons at school take place on a rotating basis during timetabled hours or, in the case of Sixth Formers, during private study periods.
Tuition is available on the following instruments/voice:

Performing with other musicians is a vital part of being an instrumentalist and as such all students learning instruments are invited to perform in school ensembles. Regular attendance at rehearsals is expected since this will enhance the students’ progress on their instruments.

For the singers in our choirs and the musicians in the orchestras, there are opportunities for all to perform at various venues throughout the year as well as international tours on occasion
|Choral Society||Eltham Sinfonia||Chamber Choir|
